Forestry

6th October

Woodland management and agroforestry, and an update from the BiFor Project.

Justin Mumford and Prof. Jo Bradwell return to Surveyors RECAP. They last spoke for us in 2019 and have lots to share with us for 2025.

Professor Jo Bradwell previously spoke at RECAP regarding the findings of the Birmingham Institute of Forest Research (BIFoR), and will provide an update on these findings. BIFoR is dedicated to understanding how forests are responding to environmental changes. The Free Air Carbon Dioxide Enrichment Facility (FACE) located at Norbury, Staffordshire has been modelling the impact of increased CO2 levels on mature oak trees since 2017. We look forward to hearing an update on this exciting research.

Justin Mumford is son of the late Richard Mumford; an integral original RECAP committee member. Justin has over 20 years’ professional experience in commercial and amenity forestry and land management. His portfolio ranges from extensive, privately owned estates, including SSSIs and Ancient Woodland, through to smaller woodlands under Council and individual control. As a former director of Lockhart Garratt and following the merger of the two companies, Justin joined the board of directors of Nicholsons in 2022.
